Hot Sumer Night: Robert Palmer
Diagnosed: May 25, 2012 Video Posted: Jan 26, 2023
“t was a summer Night
Somethings in my head
I Tossed and turned
while in my bed
I need you
Too tell my why
Why I’m now a Parkie guy
Doctor, doctor
Gave me the news
Diagnosed with the Parkie blues
No pills gonna cure my ill
I’ve got a bad case of Parkie blues.”
In a weird way, getting a Parkinson’s diagnosis can actually provide us with an edge in our battle with the disease.
Living with Parkinson’s did not start upon a diagnosis, only our awareness of it did.
In actuality we were living with Parkinson’s probably for months if not years before our diagnosis.
In that pre-diagnosis time we may have had symptoms that made us question what was going on with our body .
However we still went about our day . We still made plans for the future. Why would the knowledge of being diagnosed, now change that?
Before diagnosis, Parkinson’s had the edge on us. We were being attacked by an invisible , unknown assailant.
Now the tides have turned. We are now aware and the enemy is no longer unknown.
A diagnosis should or could actually relieve us of the stress in our lives. For we may not have known it, but we have already proved that we can live with Parkinson’s.
Only now we have the knowledge that it was Parkinson’s that brought on those symptoms.
We now have identified our enemy!
And with that knowledge we can now use it to our advantage.
We have now gained an edge!
We now have assets, limited as they may be, to use in the battle with Parkinson’s.
So spimm
