It ain’t over till it’s over!

What a wonderful life – Elvis

Diagnosed May 25, 2012 Video : Nov 28, 2023

You have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Boo Hoo!

Get over it!

Sure it’s a pain.

Yes it can knock you on your ass.

It can be exhausting, painful and frustrating.

Living your life with Parkinson’s WILL make your life more challenging,

But as challenging as it may be.

A meaningful life with Parkinson’s is NOT impossible!

Your life is not over.

As Yogi Berra would say “ It’s not over until it’s over.”

The only thing limiting what you can do with a Parkinson’s diagnosis, IS YOU!

My life before Parkinson’s had some wonderful moments in it.

My marriage to Sue, the birth of my two sons and my daughter.

The many friends and people I met along the way to that day of diagnosis.

Well we created some wonderful memories!

That day of diagnosis, just put me on a different path, a “fork in the road” shall we say,

And thanks to that great philosopher Yogi Berra, you know what I did?

I took it!

Parkinson’s or no Parkinson’s.

I’m moving forward,

I’m in my 12th year now living with this cursed disease.

But this 12 th year saw me partake in a 9 hour 35 km canoe trek, I golfed, l am back curling and back to coaching.

The past two weeks I was on the curling lice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday , Thursday and Friday!

Since my diagnosis, Sue and I haven welcomed 2 daughter in laws, 1 son in law, and 9 grandchildren into our family!

We have travelled and have either toured, hiked or ran in Newfoundland, Newbrunswick, Scotland, Ireland, Greece, IceLand and Boston.

We have moved into our first ever house, our forever Parkie house.

We have not only kept in touch with old friends but have made new ones!

I know during this time that Parkinson’s has set me on my ass .

I have had to go to the hospital 3 times this year.

However, it must be similar to child birth?

I have witnessed the pain that Sue experienced birthing our three children . Experiencing something like that, one would question why she would be willing to put herself through it two more times?

She must have done it because the after result was so wonderful. That the pain , the struggle made it even more wonderful!

So when MY Parkinson’s rocks my world.

When MY Parkinson’s knocks me on my Ass!

When MY Parkinson’s has me in tears from the pain!

It’s worth it because it makes me know this is the start of something wonderful that will soon replace it.

Just adding another memory I!

What a wonderful life!

This life I’m living!’

Have fun and be a warrior
