The mental side of living with Parkinson’s can be one of the most complicated areas to develop and manage.

There are so many variables that go into a person’s mental makeup.

With confidence probably being the most important.

OVERALL KNOWLEDGE

The Parkie that has prepared and refined their living with Parkinson’s by learning the basics and by continuing to learn.

Will be a Parkie who will excel in the day to day and adapt, as the disease progresses.

OVER ALL MENTAL TOUGHNESS

If the Parkie is aware of how to be mentally strong they are ready to succeed.

If however, they leave their mental game to chance . Depending on their mood. How the day went, how they physically feel, or the multitude of issues they encountered?

Then that Parkie will fall victim to a lack of mental toughness.

ABILITY TO DEAL WITH DISTRACTIONS

Does the Parkie know how to block out the numerous distractions that come with being….well…. a person?

This is a skill all people must work on daily , Parkie or not!

ABILITY TO DEAL WITH OBSTACLES /CHALLENGES

A life with Parkinson’s can be a life with many frustrations and disappointments. Parkies must develop a plan to deal with them in a positive and productive manner so that even a disappointment, turns into a chance to learn.

ABILITY TO LEARN FROM MISTAKES

Unfortunately, making mistakes is still one of the most effective ways to learn about oneself.

Parkies need to know that there are means to stop these same mistakes from happening again.

Not for Tomorrow!

But today!

Everything starts in the NOW!

GENERAL FITNESS LEVEL

The Parkie should be confident that their fitness level is high enough throughout the day, with out losing focus on elements of the day that can be taxing to their mobility and engagement in that day.

EQUIPMENT

The Parkie should believe that any equipment used does for them, what the equipment is designed to do.

Although the possibility of injury is always present, it should be the last thing on a PArkie’s mind,

Another way a Parkie may lack confidence in their equipment is if they are uncomfortable in how it makes them feel.

The equipment is for the Parkie to benefit their quality of life. Therefore the equipment should be able to adapt to the Parkie!

Not the other way around.

THEIR TEAM & SUPPORT STAFF

If the Parkie feels confidently about the team behind them, that the team knows the what’s and the how’s of their jobs and their responsibilities. A strong chemistry with the Parkie, enables the Parkie to focus on themselves and think about how they must prepare for the day ahead.

RECAP

Confidence is the key component to having a strong

mental participation in life.

Confidence translates into consistently strong outcomes.

The Parkie needs to always be learning and need to recognize what it takes to be Confident each and every day.

Have fun and be a Warrior
