My Caregiver is Still the one

Still the one- Orleans

May 22, 1982

The day, We two, Became one

There is an old saying

That if you put

A dollar in a jar

Every time you had sex

In the first year of marriage

Then took a dollar

Out of the jar

Every time you had sex

After year one.

Well, you would

Never, empty

The jar!

Because of you,

I keep trying,

A worthy goal,

because you’re the goal,

You’re still the one!

We naively thought

Sex, equaled Passion

Boy were we wrong!!!!

Don’t get me wrong ,

Sex has a role to play,

But it is more like,

an accessory

My Passion

for life

Magnified

When combined

with yours .

We have encountered

Many ups and downs.

We have laughed ,

We have cried.

Life is meant to be like that

We would never

Know how strong,

Our bond to each other is,

With out living through them.

The only person worthy

Of my effort?

Is you

You’re still the one!

My Passion

For living,

my zeal for life

Inspired by you

You’re still the one!

May 1982

To May 2012

Thirty years strong

What could go wrong

Well that’s when Parkinson’s

Came along.

The month of May

Had made you

Wear many hats,

Has given You

Many titles

Wife, mother and

Now Caregiver

You accepted each

Without question

Without doubt, and

Without any fear

Your strength

made me stronger.

The approach,

I’ve chosen for

My life with Parkinson’s,

Is one I made

because of my desire

To spend it with you.

You’re still the one!

We’ve travelled

A long road since

that May in 1982

When my life and your life became our lives.

May 2023

My Parkinson’s

No sorry

OUR PARKINSON’S

Takes us down

A road that is unmarked

A road that is unknown

There is one person

I know that will

Make that experience

Memorable.

You’re still the one!

We might want a drink for the road.

Better get some money.

It’s a long weekend

And the banks are closed.

Where to get some money?

Hmm

Where’s that jar?

I feel a transaction or two

Might have to occur.

I sure hope there isn’t a withdrawal service charge ?

Happy anniversary

Sue!

Parkinson’s or no Parkinson’s

You’re still the one!

And we’re having fun

Like Warriors!
