That’s Life: Frank Sinatra

Diagnosed May 25, 2012 Video Jan 30, 2023

So you’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

But don’t let it ,

let it , get you down

Cause this fine old world

It just keeps spinning around

Being newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s may seem daunting !

But it doesn’t have to be.

In fact receiving a Parkinson’s diagnosis should provide you with a big sigh of relief.

Think about it, prior to the diagnosis you had various symptoms which were unexplained and that lack of understanding of what was wrong, caused you to doubt and worry.

Yesterday you didn’t know what was wrong with you.

NOW YOU DO!

That knowledge can now help you prepare as your life moves forward.

And have no doubt, it will move forward!

How it moves forward will be impacted by one thing.

That thing is YOU!

Will you let the disease take control of you or will you try and take control of the disease?

Unfortunately, It is with certainty that the disease will progress.

However how it progresses will still very much depend on you!

Use the tools that are out there, Doctors, medicine, exercise, diet, caregivers, family, friends, support groups, etc.

Think about it as, not the beginning of the end, but the beginning of a new beginning.

As a fellow Parkie who has had Parkinson’s since 2012 let me offer you some advice that has been of help to me.

“Don’t spend so much time worrying and trying to live with your Parkinson’s, that you forget to live your life, with Parkinson’s.”

Yes it will be a battle, but there are still good times to be had during this battle.

With the proper attitude, Living a life with Parkinson’s can still offer excitement and wonder!

Because you know what?

in order to fight this F**king disease you must understand that the biggest battle is not usually with the disease but with yourself.

So Welcome to the “Life of A Parkie”

Here’s hoping you decide to make it a good one!
