The Same Song (One World, One Voice)

To help bring awareness to a Parkinson’s song that is close to my heart.

The Same Song ( One World, One Voice) is focusing on Parkinson’s Awareness.

This seems to be as good as time as any to once again showcase a song that a good friend of mine (Glenn Reid) wrote.

After seeing and hearing a video that was put out by Isabel Senft-Daniel and her support group, PJ Parkinson’s Support group, a karaoke version of a rewritten version of Bob Marley’s “Three little birds.”

Inspired by this I contacted Glenn to see if he would be interested in creating an original song for Parkinson’s that I could use and lend to Isabel’s group.

Almost overnight Glenn came up with this original song. After a few minor changes he contacted another personal friend of ours, Peter Harris.

Peter used his skills as a sound engineer and his personal contacts to enlist some of Toronto’s finest musicians to fine tune Glenn’s song.

Verse 1

There’s really only one thing.

That’s gonna make those bells ring out.

Just one direction we know won’t steer us wrong.

Our Voices sing the same song, ….That’s right!

Our voices sing the same song ,

Day and night.

Verse 2

There’s only one way.

One way to make this thing play out.

The way it should be. You and me and strong.

Our Voices sing the same song….that’s right.

Our Voices sing the same song, day and night.

Verse 3

There’s nothing really new here.

We stand our ground and face fear.

Together we make a right that can’t be wrong.

Our Voices sing the same song…. That’s right.

Our Voices sing the same song, day and night.

Verse 4

And I may move at my own pace.

This Marathons not a race, my friend.

And there is surely one right that can’t be wrong.

Our Voices sing the same song…. That’s right.

Our Voices sing the same song, day and night

Refrain

Our Voices sing the same song….. That’s right.

Our Voices sing the same song, day and night.

Re Think, rejoice.

One world one voice

Re Think, rejoice,

One World, One Voice.

One World one Voice

One World One Voice

One World, One Voice

One World One Voice

Upon completion Glenn sent me the following; “Thanks Ian. I’m really happy with the result and so touched by the musician’s thanking me for the opportunity to contribute. I registered the song with SOCAN as “The Same Song ( One World, One Voice). They give writers the option of two titles. I think for your purpose I’d just call it, One World, One Voice. I only registered it because I will be performing it live. I will draft up a letter stating that you and what ever Parkinson’s group of your choice has my permission to use the song in any way that you see fit to raise funds or awareness. This whole thing’s purpose, from our end, is our bond with Ian, that’s never gone away. And you thought you could escape by moving to Saskatchewan? No such luck my friend. Let me know if there are any legalities I have to take care of. Frankly, I’m just glad you like it, cause we do, and that would have been awkward….
